I got commissioned by one of the organisers of the “Showcase of Art by Old Columbans” for another Beechnut.

I took part in an Exhibition organised by my old school for past pupils, which included well known artists such as Patrick Scott, Michael Warren, Patrick Pye and William Leech, so I was in good company!!

I put in “Worn Through” and I made “Beechnut” for the show.

I sold both pieces!!! Unfornately I didn’t have time to take any  photos of the beechnut. Thanks to Robbie for taking this one.

Cathy had some film footage of when I was carving the “Cherries” last year and now she has made a small film for me . Thanks cathy!!

As part of the the Eigse Carlow Arts Festival, the grouping of Artists in the local area known as the “9 Stone Artist” had an Exhibition in the ball room in Borris House.

We had a great opening on 9th June. Kerry Hardie the poet opened the show with a beautiful talk. There was a good crowd and some of us  were even lucky enough to sell. I exhibited my Garlic (post on 15th July) and a new piece called “Worn Through”.

Great Review of show written by Jeremy Hill of the Norman Gallery.

I submitted my “Marrow” for the RHA Annual Exhibition this year and it was accepted. I was in good company with local 9 Stones Artists, Annabel Konig, Remco de Fouw and Rachel Joynt represented and also friends Eileen MacDonagh and Finn Conlon having work on show. There was a great crowd there on the Varnishing day (23rd May). The show goes on till the 30th July

The veg theme continues!!!

Completed  a new vegetable  – a marrow! Sculpted from a stone found in the garden. Its a schist of some sort, much harder to carve than limestone. It has a greenish tinge to it and the quartz vein gives it interest.

Before

I have just finished a new sculpture. It was a commission for a local friend so it has gone already!

I have just got a new website.

http://martinlyttle.carbonmade.com

really its just a clean easy way to show images of my work. It will be a Gallery for my work.

We had the trees that we felled almost 2 years ago processed for firewood recently (cut and split). The result was piles wood which needed to be stacked, so I took the opportunity to make sculptural wood piles!!!!!
