I’m an Irish stone sculptor and also an Engineering Geologist. I have always been fascinated by rocks/soil and the physical landscape and the geological/geomorphological processes that have formed it.
My geology background gives me a feel and understanding for the composition and formation of stone which helps me in the carving process and strongly influences my sculpture.
I began sculpting more or less full-time in 2007 – I intend to develop skills to explore the sculptural aspects of differing lithologies.
I am also interested organic shapes and forms and I am currently exploring vegatable forms in my work.

Martin–
What a small world! The Shona sculpture is incredible. We are so fortunate here in Colorado to have a huge collection in an outdoor sculpture park. If you ever make it to northern Colorado you should check it out.
There is also a great symposium called Marble Marble (it is in the town of Marble, CO) every summer. Maybe that would be a fun event for you–our Yule marble is quite beautiful.
Cheers!
